Best Cities For Staycations: Florida Has 2 In The Top 5!

If you're planning a "Staycation" for your family this summer, you're in a great state to do it.

Wallethub is out with its list of the Best Cities for Staycations and Florida has 7 in the Top 50, including two in the Top 5.  Orlando is number 1 in the entire country and Tampa ranks 5th.

Wallethub analyst Jill Gonzalez tells us how they came up with the rankings.

"We looked at three different categories...recreation, food and entertainment, rest and relaxation and in each one of those, cost was certainly an element."

With all of its theme parks, Orlando held the number one spot for "Food and Entertainment", which was enough to bring it to the top overall.

If you want to take a true staycation, as defined in this list as being somewhere that you can go for the day and sleep at home, then Fort Lauderdale sits at number 19.  That city ranks 14th for "Recreation."

"We talked about those things that get you moving.  Everything from swimming pools, hiking trails, waterparks, public golf courses, bike lanes...those things that get people active."

There are no Palm Beach County cities on the list, because the website only looked at the 150 most populated cities in the the U.S.

Chicago is the nation's number 2 best city for a staycation.
