Hot – FAU Wins Big, But Local Tourism May Be Even Bigger Winner

Florida Atlantic University blew out the Akron Zips by a score of 50 – 3 last night in the Boca Raton Bowl.  The game was televised on ESPN and national audiences watched commercials promoting Boca Raton and Palm Beach County tourism.  While the local team playing in the game may have cut down on the number of people actually traveling to Boca to watch the Zips play, those TV ads may eventually lead to tourism dollars coming our way.

Meanwhile, first year head coach Lane Kiffin and FAU agreed to a 10-year contract extension hours before the game.

Slow start. Super finish.

And the future could be even better.

Devin Singletary ran for 124 yards and three touchdowns, Jeff Driskel accounted for four scores and FAU rolled past Akron 50-3 in the Boca Raton Bowl on Tuesday night — finishing the season on a 10-game winning streak, and with Kiffin having agreed to terms on an extension that, in theory, would keep him at FAU for another 10 years.
