Hot – Vigil Held For Fisherman Found Dead

Nik Kayler disappeared while taking part in a fishing tournament on Lake Okeechobee last week.  After days of searches, a commercial vessel found his body near Clewiston.  Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil that was already planned for the Iraq War veteran took place last night.

CLEWISTON, Fla. (CBS 12) — Wednesday night there was closure for the Kayler family and the community of Okeechobee as around 100 people gathered for a vigil to celebrate Nik Kayler’s life, which was cut short after a boating incident. His body was found Wednesday morning near Clewiston Florida.

One by one the seats began to fill at Nik Kaylers vigil held at Scott Driver Park in Okeechobee. Street lights glimmered on Lake Okeechobee, while candles lit the faces of friends and family.

“It’s the toughest thing I have ever been through, it's not something I would wish upon anybody,” said the brother of Nik Kayler, Phillip Kayler.
