Hot – Threats Against PBC Schools In Wake Of Parkland Shooting

In the wake of the Parkland school shooting, there have been some threats involving local schools. 


School District police are investigating a threat written on a bathroom wall at Emerald Cove Middle in Wellington yesterday.  The principal told parents through a robocall that they take all threats seriously and the person responsible could face criminal charges along with discipline under the Student Code of Conduct. 

WELLINGTON, Fla. (CBS12) — School District Police are investigating a threat written on a bathroom wall at Emerald Cove Middle School on Monday.

According to the Palm Beach County School District, Dr. Fearman left parents a message regarding the incident.

In Delray Beach, there was a threat on social media ahead of yesterday's school day that forced Atlantic High School to beef up security on campus and cancel school events.  Officers from Delray Beach Police could be seen coming and going throughout the day.  In an automated call to parents, Atlantic High’s principal promised the city’s police would join School District officers on campus all week, due to the threatening post.  The social media post warned Atlantic students not to go to school this week, but the school’s principal says school police officers have investigated the post and believe this is not a credible threat.  There may have been other social media threats against schools in our area, according to school police.  They warn parents that these may be considered jokes by those who post them, but they are crimes.

But the school day at Atlantic High School in Delray Beach, came to an end without disruption.

Units from Delray Beach Police could be seen coming and going through the day.

In an automated call to parents, Atlantic High’s principal, Tara Ocampo, promised the city’s police would join School District officers on campus all week, due to the threatening post.
