  • The divvying up of $2.3 million in approved state funds to improve election security was announced with 55 Supervisors of Elections receiving funds in advance of 2020 including Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties
  • An additional 82 cases of Hepatitis A were reported last week across the state – 355 total in June – bringing the total outbreak to 1811 cases this year. That far exceeds the 548 total cases statewide in all of 2018. Those between 30-39 have the highest current infection rate.
  • Brevard County’s selection of invocation speakers for Commission meetings has been ruled unconstitutional by the 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals. The court ruled that its current selection process excludes certain faiths and is discriminatory.
  • Boca’s Spanish River High School principal, William Latson has been removed as principal by the Palm Beach County School District after emailing a parent, suggesting that the Holocaust wasn’t a factual historical event. Latson hasn’t been fired however, he’s been “reassigned” to a yet to be determined position.
  • Authorities investigating the July 4th mauling of a Lake Placid man have determined that a pack of stray dogs were most likely responsible for his death. Six stray dogs have been captured in the area and match the bite marks on the man’s body.
