  • The South Florida Water Management District’s Governing Board will meet today at Florida Gulf Coast University to discuss next steps on the Everglades Restoration Project and the Lake Okeechobee Watershed Restoration Project. Last Friday use of the first reservoir under the project began. A lead proposal by being considered would include a reservoir being opened north of Lake Okeechobee to catch runoff that’s often contaminated with nutrients, prior to it reaching Lake O’. 
  • Make it Legal Florida has collected 77,000 verified signatures for their 2020 proposed constitutional amendment which would legalize recreational marijuana in Florida. The language will now be considered before Florida’s Supreme Court. The group’s proposal would allow recreational use and purchases for adults over 21. 
  • Florida maintains its status as the top state in fraud for another year based on the latest report from the Federal Trade Commission. Miami is the top city for fraud in Florida and thus the country.
  • According to the Tax Foundation, Florida’s now the 4th best state in the country for businesses.
