  • Florida’s voter registration website experienced outages late in the day Monday, the last day to register to vote for November 3rd's general election. Secretary of State Laurel Lee confirmed an outage due to high volume but suggested the outage only lasted for about 15 minutes around 6pm. Isolated reports of difficulty accessing the site continued throughout the night.
  • The US Supreme Court declined to hear the request by the former operator of the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills to have their license reinstated to operate within Florida again. This ensures the operator, found responsible for the deaths of at least 12 residents due to exposure after hurricane Irma, won’t be allowed to operate.
  • Regal Cinemas will be suspending the operation of all 14 movie theaters it operates in South Florida effective Thursday. Regal cited fiscal challenges related to the pandemic. They left open the possibility for reopening theaters in the future.
  • Governor DeSantis ranks 9th in the Cato Institute’s rankings for fiscal responsibility this year. DeSantis earned a “B” grade for his handling of the state’s budget in the mist of the economic impact of the pandemic. Seven states – Illinois, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and Virginia all received failing grades.
