- For 9th consecutive day Florida’s seven-day average of COVID-19 cases has declined with just 11,900 new cases reported by the Florida Department of Health – which is also right at the weekly average trend for cases. Florida’s current trend remains the lowest since December 31st.
- According to the Florida Department of Health’s daily reporting, another 67,000 Floridians were vaccinated over the previous day. 1,011,218 Floridians have now been vaccinated with a first dose of a COVID vaccine while 111,188 people have now completed the two-dose process.
- Governor DeSantis announced new, high volume vaccination sties in Miami, Jacksonville and Tampa. Each site will be able to immunize 1,000 people daily with the Pfizer vaccine. The Miami location will be Marlins Park which is a COVID-19 test site. All sites will be open seven-days per week while supplies of the vaccine last.
- Turns out the invasive Burmese Pythons in the Everglades could prove useful. According to the Global Research and Discover Group Sciences institute, an oil called squalene which is present in the pythons, aids with the immune system’s acceptance of vaccinations. Renowned python hunter, Dusty Crum, intends to work with the state to harvest the oil as pythons are captured.
