Top Three Takeaways – February 11th, 2021

  1. Isn’t this special. On Wednesday, February 10th, a formal probe was opened into Georgia’s 2020ish elections. Not when red flags were raised when a consent decree was signed changing the rules of Georgia’s elections well in advance of Election Day, not during the early voting period, not prior to the certifying of the election results and not before runoff elections to for two Senate seats which determined control of the US Senate. But yesterday. It’s also not what you think. The Fulton County District Attorney who opened the probe isn’t looking to investigate the integrity of Georgia’s elections. She is investigating potential violations of Georgia law prohibiting the solicitation of election fraud, the making of false statements to state and local government bodies, conspiracy, racketeering, violation of oath of office and any involvement in violence or threats related to the election’s administration. Instead, this is another effort to attempt to exploit the Trump phone call to state officials to intimidate them from meaningfully improving Georgia’s election integrity during this year’s state session. Democrats are so often vastly superior at advancing their objectives – you might say progressively – than weak-kneed Republicans. This is precisely why Democrats are attempting to prevent the most effective fighter Republicans have had in over 30 years from holding office right now. Eliminate Trump and intimidate all others like him from stepping up and before long, their long-term objectives for a socialist takeover will be complete. According to the Electoral Integrity Project Georgia’s Election integrity stands at 57%. That’s a failing grade from where I’m from...which is ironically Georgia. But rather than fix that dumpster fire of an election system – let's put the feckless GOP leaders in Georgia on the defensive until they’re “voted” out of power next year. In December I brought you Harvard’s Election Integrity Project’s rankings which showed the United States ranks 37th out of 38 countries which hold democratic elections and 57th overall. Georgia is one of the five worst states for election integrity in the worst country for integrity in the civilized world but the priority for election integrity is the Trump phone call? By the way, two states which rank below Georgia in Election Integrity – Arizona and Pennsylvania. But no worries, right?
  2. What’s he doing? As far as Donald Trump goes, the extent of what we’ve heard from him since arriving home to Mar-a-Lago on Inauguration Day is that he was as taken back by his defense team congratulating the prosecutors of the impeachment for the quality of their presentation as the rest of us. But I’m certain the silence won’t last for long and that even the censors at Amazon, Facebook, Google and Twitter won’t be able to keep him from being heard. This is the calm before the political storm and when this impeachment trial is over - it’s feckless Republicans that should be worried. Just as Georgia’s Republicans have failed to provide suitable election integrity, according to Harvard – not me, or demonstrate they even have a backbone... Those types of politicians throughout the Republican spectrum are about to be challenged like never before. By the greatest fighter since Regan.
  3. It’s time. In recent years I’ve described the battle over the heart of the Republican party like this. The Tea Party rose up in 2009 to challenge the failings of the GOP establishment and were generally successful through the 2010 elections. By 2012 however, when Mitt Romney became the party nominee the establishment had successfully fought back but failed to win elections. The GOP lacked identify generally through the next cycle but by 2015, Donald Trump put an end to the battle between the Tea Party and the establishment. He smashed the entire dynamic and remade the party in his image. After the election many wondered if he’d break off and create a third party. He’s not. What he is about to do is remake the Republican party from the ground up with politicians who have backbones. I’ve long said South Florida would one day save this country from itself. Our state was saved from Andrew Gillum in 2018 when those who’ve escaped communism and socialism broke for DeSantis. You also voted in record numbers to support Donald Trump. Now, it’s the man himself from Mar-a-Lago. Donald Trump’s next move, to reshape the Republican party, might be his most important one yet. It’s time.
