  • Governor DeSantis kicked off Florida’s 60-day 2021 session with his third State of the State address. Among the highlights in his speech - DeSantis said the state’s economic outperformance has allowed it to avoid using any of its reserves. He said this will allow the state to continue to build upon last year’s priorities - rather than having to cut funding due to the pandemic.
  • After posting only 1,700 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, the lowest since June 9th, the Florida Department of Health reported 7,179 cases on Tuesday. Still the weekly average of cases remains the lowest since early November.
  • For the fourth consecutive week, Florida started the week with another decline in first doses available to administer with only 24,241 first doses administered on Monday. While the Biden administration has consistently promised more vaccines to Florida – it largely hasn’t materialized as Florida has averaged fewer vaccines on an absolute and a percentage basis of the country’s supply under the Biden administration.
  • Four FEMA operated sites located in Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville open today. FEMA said any Floridians eligible under Florida’s current guidelines will be able to obtain vaccinations at their sites. You can preregister using Florida’s myvaccine.fl.gov website.
