  • The National Weather Service has identified the tornado which struck North Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens Saturday, as an EF2 with winds of 130 mph. The tornado lasted for a total of 11 minutes covering two and a half miles causing extensive damage to properties and cars in the path of the tornado.  
  • Recent movers in the state legislative session included the Elections bill, complete with changes to Florida’s resign-to-run policy enabling an elected official to run for president or vice president without resigning from their current post. The legislature passed the bill along party lines sending it to Governor DeSantis to sign. Fees in Lieu of Security Deposits bill has alos advanced. The bill which allows for landlords to charge renters a monthly non-refundable fee in lieu of a security deposit passed through the legislature on a mostly party-line vote and heads to Governor DeSantis.  
  • A proposed constitutional amendment on our ballots next year will be the Fishing and Hunting proposal. The legislature passed the proposed amendment which would codify hunting and fishing as rights in the state of Florida. It will need a minimum of 60% support to pass in the November 2024 election.  
  • Gas prices continued inching lower through the weekend. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.64 per gallon – seven cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.83 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
