Migrant Relocations, Hypocrisy & Trump’s Trial - Top 3 Takeaways

Migrant Relocations, Hypocrisy & Trump’s Trial - Top 3 Takeaways – June 26th, 2023

  1. Surprise, Surprise. Hypocrites and politics go hand-in-hand. So that New York City Mayor Eric Adams is proved to be a hypocrite is far from being unique or even at all surprising. But the audacity with which he's exercised his hypocrisy is rather impressive even on a political grading scale. Last year, following Texas Governor Greg Abbott's regular migrant relocations to sanctuary cities and Governor DeSantis' Martha's migrants' expedition, Mayor Adams had this to sayA humanitarian crisis created by human hands. We should not be really treating other cities and municipalities in the manner we’re witnessing now. This is a blight on our entire country. Surely such strong words must only be coming from a righteous man of sound moral fortitude. Now here's the thing, pretty much from the moment Joe Biden became President of the United States his administration has been shipping untold and unknown quantities of illegal immigrants clear across the country - though with Florida as one of the top destinations. These happen without coordination with Governor DeSantis and certainly without his authorization. But as we've come to learn ole' Joe hasn't been alone. Politico has uncovered documents showing New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been a regular relocator of illegals out of his city for well over a year. And where has the prolific shipping of illegals been?...
  2. To three states - Florida, Texas, North Carolina - and four countries - Peru, Ecuador, China and Venezuela (kudos to Adams on that note - for doing what Biden won't do in effectively deporting some illegals). In any event the top and most common destination of all though...none other than Florida. Right at a quarter of all illegal relocations by Mayor Adams over the past 14-plus months have come out of New York City and straight to Florida. And as facts would have it...he started doing this five months prior to DeSantis' initial Martha's Migrants expedition of which Adams dubbed a humanitarian crisis. Isn't that a fun one. And while Governor DeSantis for weeks was regularly referred to as a no good very bad man (and various incarnations of) by Adams and other leftist politicos, along with the flames being fanned by their allies in most news media, where's the coverage of Adams with a far more extensive and prolific undercover effort? Where are the cries for him to resign. Where is The Hair (California Governor Gavin Newsom who is busy attempting to charge Governor DeSantis and the State of Florida with criminal actions for the most recent relocations to Sacramento) on these horrific acts? It's not a surprise most in news reporting are hypocritical with their coverage. It's not surprising leftist politicos are hypocritical with their condemnation of our governor and free pass for Eric Adams. I must admit that it is at least a little surprising to see the extent to which Adams is hypocritical, however. It's a reminder that the louder the cries on a particular issue are on the left, it's often an indication that they're projecting.
  3. What’s the angle? While no legal analysts actually thought former President Donald Trump’s classified docs trial would begin on August 14th, as judge Aileen Cannon initially scheduled last week, none seemingly had the prosecution as the reason there would be a delay. The thought by observers was that team Trump would file a series of appeals (which will probably still happen), in an effort to delay the start of the trial as long as possible. With an average appeal in a federal case taking 3-6 months to resolve (though that process may move quicker in this case for the obvious reasons), it just might be possible for team Trump to punt the trial until after next year’s election. That’s why it’s interesting that the first motion to delay the start of the case came from the prosecution – in the form of special council Jack Smith’s request for the start to be moved to December 11th. Quoting Smith’s request to Judge Cannon in the official filing for the delay: Even with the prompt production the government has arranged, the inclusion of additional time for defense counsel to review and digest the discovery, to make their own decisions about any production to the government, and for the government to review the same, is reasonable and appropriate. Hmm...the chief concern of the prosecution is that the defense has as much time as possible to digest the material to be presented to mount a solid defense? I’ve been around a lot of attorneys for a long time, and I can tell you that this is the first time I’ve heard of the prosecution asking for more time on behalf of the defense without the prompting first coming from the defense. So, what’s the angle here? Is this an effort to preemptively thwart motions to further delay the case by Trump’s team? Is this an effort to try to get the case rolling just prior to the first votes of the 2024 presidential election cycle? Is this an indication the prosecution isn’t as confident in its case as originally projected? Could Judge Cannon’s indication that the case is to be held at her home court in Fort Pierce, in a county Trump won weighing on the prosecution’s strategy in the case? It could be a lot of things, but it is a bit odd.
