  • Today through August 6th Florida’s Back-to-School sales tax holiday is in effect. The tax holiday includes a host of traditional school supplies in addition to computers and accessories of $1,500 or less. Other electronics including tablets, monitors, routers are included as well. Clothing of $100 or less per article are tax free as well.  
  • Wind shear associated with El Nino is leading to unfavorable conditions for tropical development as a disturbance approaches the Lesser Antilles. The topical wave which formed near the coast of Africa is now only being given a 20% chance of development after having been given a likely chance of development late last week.  
  • Travel & Leisure’s Reader Choice Awards ranked the Palm Beach International Airport as the 8th best in the country. It’s the 7th straight year PBIA has been ranked in the top ten. The airport ranks especially high for ease of access and having especially low TSA screening wait times.  
  • Gas prices were generally flat over the weekend. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.47 per gallon – 7 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.61 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
