  • Three tropical disturbances remain in the Atlantic Basin following the dissipation of Tropical storm Gert and the southern Texas landfall of Harold. Tropical storm Franklin will make landfall later today in Hispaniola before reentering the Atlantic where it’s expected to eventually strengthen into a hurricane as it tracks north. Two other disturbances in the mid-Atlantic may develop later this week. No disturbances currently pose a threat to Florida.  
  • The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Palm Beach has received a failing grade for quality of care. The West Palm Beach VA, which serves 60,000 area veterans, was given one star out of five possible by CMS making it one of the nine lowest rated VA Medical Centers in the country. 
  • For the first time since the onset of the pandemic in 2020, the Palm Beach County School District is implementing field trips back into lesson plans. Superintendent Mike Burke highlighted a few of the districts planned field trips which include all 5th graders visiting the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and all 7th and 10th graders taking field trips which will include visits to the Cox Science Center, the Palm Beach Zoo and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. 
  • Gas prices dropped two cents on Tuesday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.77 per gallon – 7 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.94 per gallon, which is the second highest price in the state.
