How Florida Feels about President Biden

How Florida Feels about President Biden

Bottom Line: It’s safe to say most Americans haven’t enjoyed the first nearly three years of President Biden’s presidency. The last time he had a net positive approval rating was in August of 2021 at the time of the debacle in Afghanistan. And in Florida you’d have to go back even further to May of 2021. However typically no news has been better news by way of public perception for Joe Biden. That’s due to most of the news that’s put him in focus having been viewed negatively by most Americans. In fact, there’s been only one major event or policy announcement made by President Biden which has coincided with an increase in his approval polling two weeks later. That was the announcement of his proposed student loan relief plan in advance of last year’s midterm election. A plan which has been deemed unconstitutional. And based on the most recent polling of the president his handling of the Israel-Hamas war isn’t helping his cause and that’s especially true in Florida where President Biden has reached a new low for his approval this year.

President Biden’s approval rating has fallen to 36% in Florida. But even that’s misleading. His approval rating is supported by almost exclusive support among Democrats. Currently his approval rating is at 80% with Democrats while only 29% of independents do. With Florida’s Hispanics/Latinos it’s only 38%. And regardless of age his approval doesn’t exceed 40%. In fact, the only demographic President Biden maintains a positive approval rating within Florida are Black voters at 71%. Floridians clearly do not approve of President Biden and it’s clear that our state which has been trending red for years is only being aided in that direction by the current President of the United States.
