  • There were numerous bills advancing through committees in the first full day of the state legislative session on Wednesday. Movers included a bill which would increase the number of hours minors could legally be able to work in a day, a bill seeking to protect Floridians from online stalking, including with the use of airtags and a bill which would increase penalties for crimes committed across county lines. 
  • Florida’s real-estate boom in recent years has once again led to a real-estate agent boom. Florida leads the country with 3.4 real-estate agents per 1,000 employed people. That’s a rate that’s three times the national average. The median wage for a real estate agent in Florida is $46,420 – which is below the average full-time wage of $48,000 in the state. 
  • A new study from the online accommodation firm BluePillow, factoring in 13 different factors, ranks Florida 10th for remote workers for success and quality of work experience to start the year. Massachusetts is currently ranked 1st in their study. Florida’s led the country in net migration for remote workers annually since 2020. 
  • Temps have been in the 50’s to start the day (with a low of 49 reached overnight in Vero Beach) and will remain below the seasonal norms with temperatures four to eight degrees below the seasonal norms today with highs peaking in the mid 60’s to low 70’s throughout the listening area. 
  • Gas prices have dropped a penny for the third day in a row. The average price statewide for regular unleaded is $3.13 per gallon - 10 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.30 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.22 and in Indian River County the average is $3.12 per gallon.
