You have the hottest team in the NFL, the Carolina Panthers, riding a 6 game winning streak, coming to South Florida to face an up and down Dolphins team that is trying to cling to a potential playoff berth.
You won't find many people picking Miami to win this game, especially those who watched the Panthers defensive front give Tom Brady fits in their win against the Patriots on Monday night.
Just as I did in my pick for the San Diego game, I am going unconventional.
I won't sit here and tell you that the 7-3 Panthers can be beat by the 5-5 Miami Dolphins. The numbers would say our team will get crushed, Tannehill will be running for his life and Cam Newton can't be stopped.
Here's my logic: Carolina is coming off a Monday night game in which they played their hearts and butts off. They left a lot on the field and lost a key defender who is apparently the best on the team when it comes to sacking the quarterback. They will be playing with less recuperation time, finishing up late on Monday night. That's also less preparation time.
Now, while less prep time seems to work for the Fins, they beat Cincinnati on Thursday, Oct. 31st, after playing the previous Sunday, and defeated the Chargers after playing the previous Monday night, yet dropped games to the Bills and Bucs after having 14 and 11 days respectively to prepare for those games.
This, while totally unconventional, is reason for hope that Miami can actually beat the Panthers. The other thing is this: Carolina has won 6 straight...they have to lose some time.
Miami 17 - Carolina 14
I will be out next week and won't be picking the New York Jets game on December 1st, but I'll be ready with reaction to that game, as we head towards the Pittsburgh Steelers game December 8th, along with a prediction for that one.
