An American crossroads – Take control:

Today isn’t a typical day for the Cheat Sheet.  That will return tomorrow.  Let’s talk about a few themes that can be useful for your consideration…

  • Housing
  • Control what you can control
  • Debt

First of all about the election...  Frankly I’m relieved.  Candidly behind the scenes I was preparing for the outcome that occurred last night since Thursday (the first time it was becoming clear what the election was shaping up as…).  If you look at yesterday’s Cheat Sheet you’ll see the following based on my analytics:

  • There was an 82% chance that President Obama would win re-election
  • If President Obama won it would be with 303 Electoral Votes
  • There was an 18% chance Romney would win
  • If Romney won he’d win with 281 Electoral Votes

If you were to read between the lines (and some did) you’d see that I was expecting what occurred.  The only surprise to me was/is Florida (which as I type this is still not resolved). 

President Obama is currently at the 303 Electoral Votes I projected.  Under either model I had Florida going for Romney – so leave it to us to potentially be the rouge in my formula. 

Because of my ideological bend some conservatives turned on me after yesterday’s show.  They wanted a cheerleader who would say what they wanted to hear.  That’s not my function.  Having accurate information is my job.  Now let’s get constructive.

 

Housing:

Coming into 2012 I mentioned housing was the big turnaround story waiting to happen.  That’s certainly been the case this year & I think it’s only more attractive today.  If you are worried about our future economically consider this.

Let’s say we have a European debt like crisis down the road.  Rising unemployment, etc.  If you have no revolving debt and your home paid for you can handle many bad economic eventualities. 

Debt:

This goes hand in hand with the above statement.  Reduce your debt and put yourself in command of your destiny as much as possible.

 

Opportunity:

There is opportunity to take advantage of right now.  In coming days I’ll be sharing those themes will you. 

Democrats:  Congratulations!  Please help us find a path to a balanced budget

Republicans:  Don’t get mad – get constructive and stay positive
