WJNO Financial Analyst \ Co-Host The Morning Rush Weekday mornings 5 til 9
I work every day to keep you ahead of the curve on the crazy state of the economy, business, investments and technology.
My motto: Passion plus talent is unstoppable.
My faith: Though I don't use the mic to preach, to know me is to know that I'm a Christian (like many struggling to stay on the right path). I firmly believe that without God in our lives happiness will never be found. I believe that many of our societal failures have resulted from a general willingness to distance ourselves from our founding values while embracing political correctness.
I'm in my 15th year with Clear Channel Media and 7th in South Florida. With my father as inspiration, I started investing in the stock market when I was 11 and co-founded a smoothie company at 18. The highlight of my radio career has been serving as a fill-in for Sean Hannity.
I've made my share of mistakes along the way as well. I shape my perspective from success and failure to provide you with a truly objective picture of business and money in your world. Business and investing are passions of mine. Some read Dean Koontz... I read financial reports.
I'm originally from the Atlanta area and am a die hard Braves & Falcons fan. I'm married to the love of my life Ashley, and yes I am related to Dr. Samuel Mudd, co-conspirator in the assassination of President Lincoln (he's four greats an uncle). My name is Mudd.
My Thoughts: What's old is new again. Toyota domination. Toyota takes 5 of the 10 categories this year including big wins for the Camry Hybrid and for the 100th year running (or at least the 11 it's been sold in the US) - Prius. The only two American cars that won their categories were the Ford Mustang and Chevy Avalanche. This is all the more important right now as many are looking toward fuel efficient vehicles again with the rising gas prices.
My Thoughts: As predicted Mitt Romney won a close race in Michigan and won big in Arizona. More importantly as I type this Mitt Romney picked up 40 delegates last night to Rick Santorum's 11 (8 Michigan delegates have yet to be awarded). As much as people talk about this as a style and momentum contest - make no mistake it's about delegates. To that end Romney now has a near 2 to 1 lead over Santorum who's in second place (163 to 83). There is still a long way to go to win the nomination (1144 are needed for the win) but Romney is certainly is a good position for all of the talk to the contrary. As everyone points to Super Tuesday next week - one reminder... We still have one stat before next week, Washington on Saturday, which actually has more delegates at stake (43) than either Michigan or Arizona.
Several Brokerage firms are delayed in getting their investors tax information for filing:
My Thoughts: Big firms like Charles Schwab, Well Fargo and Sharebuilder are among those that did not meet the Feb. 15th deadline of getting you tax info so you can prepare and file your taxes. This is a potential issue for two reasons. 1. If you're set to receive a refund you're going to have to wait to file to receive it. 2. If you're using 2011 income for obtaining a loan.
My Thoughts: I will come to your home and issue lashings to you if you pay full price for an iPad 2 anymore. Best Buy and Radio Shack are among companies that have dropped the price on the iPad 2 by $50 and once the 3 is on store shelves the price drop will likely be bigger. As for the 3... Quick pat on the back as I identified March 9th as the likely day of iPad 3 orders (came pretty close). With the iPad 3 event on March 7th you'll be able to order it within the next couple of weeks.
