A columnist is posing the suggestion that the upcoming season, which looks to be a long one (if you take the game results and front office moves of the past few weeks as any indication), could be blamed on a jinx that seems to follow along teams when they are featured on the HBO series "Hard Knocks".
I had heard of the "Sports Illustrated jinx" and am all too familiar with the "Madden jinx", but wasn't aware of one connected to the documentary "Hard Knocks".
Since the "Hard Knocks" crew arrived at training camp, Miami has yet to take a lead in the pre-season, has dropped big-name players like Chad Johnson and Vontae Davis and can't find a receiver to catch a ball.
Getting Ready for Game 4
The Fins travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys Wednesday night. Kickoff is 8:30 p.m. 1290 WJNO's on-air coverage begins at 8:00 p.m.
One player who may not make the trip is left tackle Jake Long, who suffered a right knee injury on Monday. The team says it's not serious, an MRI showing a sprained medial collateral ligament, or what was described as a "tweak" by a source close to the situation, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Long is expected to be fine for the team’s Week 1 game at Houston.
