How does that rookie quarterback look now? Ryan Tannehill played well enough to win against the Oakland Raiders, completing 60% of his passes for 200 yards.
He also threw the first touchdown of his NFL career, ran in a touchdown and threw no interceptions. That's an improvement, to say the least, from the week earlier against Houston, when Tannehill threw 3 interceptions and no touchdowns.
Of course, he couldn't have played as well without a great running game, and that's just what the Dolphins had. Reggie Bush ran for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rookie from the University of Miami Lamar Miller added another 65 yards and another touchdown. He played for Daniel Thomas, who missed the home opener with a concussion.
That's a total of 4 rushing touchdowns for Miami in front of a far-from-sold out crowd. The team had to guarantee that 85% of the stadium would be full, by getting corporate sponsors involved and giving extra tickets to season ticket holders, and you could still see empty orange seats in the stands during the game.
In come the Jets.
New York comes to Sun Life Stadium on Sunday, having lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers and ready for a win against their AFC East foe Dolphins.
I expect to see, once again, a poised Ryan Tannehill, though I also hope cornerback Darrelle Revis is out for a second straight game. If no, expect to see at least one ball from the rookie QB's arm picked off. The guy is just a ball hawk.
