First before you have a heart attack after reading that headline from me. I still don't like guns. I wish no one, good guys or bad guys, had guns in this country. I don't own a gun and never will. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, here's the deal.

Every time we see or hear about shootings, mostly mass shootings, there are calls for gun control. Those who opoose gun control will use the argument that if we toughen our gun control laws, we'll just make it tougher for law abiding citizens who use guns responsibly to get guns. They argue that the bad guys will get their hands on guns no matter what. I am at the point where I just can't argue with that logic any longer.

The recent shooting at a spa in Wisconsin is a good example. Ready for this? The man accused in the shooting that took the lives of his wife and two other women, had a restraining order that required him to turn in any firearms he owned. That's because of so many previous complaints by his wife that he threatened her life. So what does this guy do? Two days after that restraining order was issued, he buys a .40-caliber semiautomatic weapon. It was the one used in the shooting.

In Wisconsin there's a two day waiting period to take ownership of a gun if it's purchased from a gun dealer. There is no such waiting period if that gun is purchased from an individual. See how easy it was for him to buy a gun and he had a gun control law that was printed up just for him.

I know it's an emotional subject for all, especially on the heels of any mass shooting, but there has to be a better way to weed out criminals and mentally impaired individuals and keep them away from firearms...there has to be.
