I've seen postings on my Facebook page from some people who speculate we'll see a baby explosion up north in about nine months all because of Super Storm Sandy. I don't think so. I think with hurricane force winds pounding on the door, trees toppling onto houses, the ocean and its sand washing up into neighborhoods a mile or more away from the shoreline, extreme flooding, transportation being shut down and power out, making babies wouldn't be a top priority for most people in a time like that. Now maybe a snow storm where the power goes out and all you have is a bottle of wine and a fireplace. Now you're onto something. I think there will be weight gain, but not from pregnancy...from food.
i've been reading reports about what people were buying ahead of the storm in New England and what they've been purchasing since it passed. While there may have been good intentions of eating a healthy meal during these trying times, that apparently fell by the wayside for many. Health experts say you should eat healthy in times of stress. But apparently a lot of New Yorkers were out buying comfort food. I know that's what I'd do. Nothing like some good old Oreos during a storm.
Chips and salsa were also high on the list for shoppers and how in the world can you get through a storm without some good old Mac and Cheese? Just how they cook that without power I don't know. Probably a lot of gas stoves.
Then talk about the perfect storm. Sandy just ruined trick or treating so all those homes were left with all that Halloween candy and no one to give it to. Take a guess as to what happened to it? Spaghettios anyone?
