So we went to war in Iraq. This isn't to dredge up whether there were weapons of mass destruction or not. But as a result of that war, the United States and allies freed the Iraqi people from a murderous dictator. Saddam Hussein was eventually hung for his crimes. The Iraqi government eventually set up a more Democratic form of government. Now to some numbers and I promise I'll get to why I'm writing this.

The United States saw 4,500 servicemen killed in the effort. More than 32,000 were wounded. It was a war that cost American taxpayers 750-billion-dollars. That number could eventually top a trillion given the future health care treatments to those service men and women. Was it worth it?

A top Iraqi diplomat(that's right Iraqi) is urging Arab states to use "the weapon of oil" against the United States because of its alliance with Israel. Qais al-Azzawy told reporters back on Friday the aim is asserting real pressure on the United States an others who stand with Israel. It's a shocking statement to say the least, given what we went through with that war.

Iraqi, along with other Arab nations supply only about 13% of America's oil. But Arab oil producers through OPEC wield influence on prices. The Iraqi diplomat's call is over the current fighting between Israel and the Palestinians. Iraq also recently released a commander of the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah despite assurances to the United States that it wouldn't do that.

Just wondering if this is enough for us to get our heads out of our you-know-whats and realize that no matter what we do in any Middle Eastern country, they aren't going to like is, in fact will continue to hate us and our efforts will result in a waste of American lives and money.
