Let's take a look:
For starters, the U.S. Postal Service has been delivering mail on Saturdays for 150 years. But the USPS has been bleeding red ink and needs to find ways to cut costs. It appears Saturday mail delivery will end as of August 1st. 150 years is a long time. It's kind of like Pavlov's Dogs. For all of us alive it means the Postal Service has been delivering mail all of our lives. Get us used to something and it's something we're going to notice when it goes away and for many it'll take a lot to get used to right?
Well I scoured some online versions of newspapers around the country because I thought they'd be asking their readers if they'd miss Saturday mail deliveries. Here's what I found:
The Acton Newspaper:
One comment and the reader said yes because credit card companies are giving people less time to pay.
The Londonderry Newspaper:
Nope
No, I said this years ago
No
It's about time
Foxborough Mass. Newspaper
No, but why don't they take away Mondays instead so if Monday is a holiday, we don't go three days without mail.
There are many of these online, but you get the picture. For the most part, Saturday mail delivery won't be missed. It certainly won't be missed by me. I liked that comment about Mondays though.
Conclusion: Fiction
