Let's take a look:

There was speculation over why our new Pope chose the name Franics. After all it was the first time it had been chosen, hence Francis I.

Some said it was connected to the co-founder of the Jesuit Order, Francis Xavier. Pope Francis is a Jesuit. Others said it was after St. Francis of Assisi. The latter was correct. Pope Francis held an audience with the media and he was asked that question.

He broke from prepared comments and said, "Let me tell you a story." He talked about how he was comforted by his friend Cardinal Claudio Hummes. At that point it appeared the voting was going his way. Cardinal Hummes hugged the eventual Pope and said, "Don't forget about the poor."

Pope Francis said that's how, in his heart, came the name Francis. That it came from Francis of Assisi who devoted his life to the poor. He described Francis of Assisi as the man of the poor, the man of peace, and the man who loved and cared for creation. He also said at this moment we don't have such a great relationship with the creator.

And as Paul Harvey would say: "Now you know the rest of the story."
