A new study shows that if you have stayed in a hotel, you have likely come in contact with fecal matter.

Have you ever wondered what germs are in your hotel room?  One group of University of Houston researchers recently found out you might not like what you find.

In the study of 19 hotel rooms such things checked were remote controls,  countertops, and the study found that in 81% of items checked, the fecal bacteria E. Coli was present.

The study showed that the maid cart might be to blame with bacteria forming on mops, and sponges. During an 8 hour shift maids can clean up to 16 rooms. Researchers are hopeful the study helps improve housekeeping methods in the future.

No specific hotel chains were named in the study.
