South Florida Congressman Allen West continues to turn heads.
He told a gathering at a Port St. Lucie rally over the weekend that President Barack Obama wants Americans to be "his slave".
The republican is running for the newly created district 18 seat, which runs through much of West Palm Beach and most of the Treasure Coast. He faces Martin County Sheriff Bob Crowder in the August primary.
West told a crowd at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center on Sunday, that Obama "does not want you to have the self-esteem of getting up and earning and having the title of american. He'd rather you be his slave".
Crowder says he is offended by some of West's statements.
