Nickelodeon one of 17 Viacom channels dropped by satellite giant.

If you are a DIRECTV subscriber and your child is looking for Sponge Bob or any other favorite show on Nickelodeon they will be out of luck. DIRECTV has suspended airing the popular children's channel along with other popular Viacom channels such as MTV, VH1, and Spike.

The suspension began just around midnight this morning.

The shutdown comes as the two sides are in a heated battle over fees to be paid by the satellite provider to bring you the Viacom channels. In place of the channels DIRECTV has replaced them with previews of particular channels that remain with the provider.

CEO Mike White calls the move temporary and a scare tactic by Viacom, but until a resolution is reached the channels will remain off the providers viewing list.
