Fla holding another Back to School Sales Tax Holiday on clothing and school supplies
This weekend would probably be a good time to get that back to school shopping done.
That's because the state is holding a sales tax holiday. For three days, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday, until Midnight on Sunday night, there will be no sales tax on clothing items priced at or under $75 each or certain school supplies priced at or under $15 each.
This year's sales back to school sales tax holiday is shorter than some previous ones, but state legislators are dealing with a lean budget year.
Kids in Palm Beach, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties go back to school August 20th. Martin County gets back to class on Aug. 15.
The National Retail Federation has estimated parents of K-12 students will spend $30.3 billion on back-to-school shopping, and officials with the Florida Retail Federation expect sales growth over 2011, thanks in part to the sales tax holiday.
