Officers of the Jupiter Police Deptartment are honoring Officer Bruce St. Laurent, who was killed Sunday while serving in President Obama's motorcade.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Office spokesperson Teri Barbera said that Officer St. Laurent was struck by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle in the motorcade as President Barack Obama was on his way to the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

St. Laurent was about to shut down Interstate 95 by the 45th Street exit when he was struck, Barbera said. He was rushed to St. Mary's Medical Center where he later died.

The accident, which is under investigation, happened at around 4:45pm Sunday.

According to our news partner, wptv.com, officers from the Jupiter Police Department placed Laurent's patrol vehicle in front of the department, decorating it with black banners and a single rose. A small memorial with a candles and a photo was also set up where visitors can pay their respects to St. Laurent.
