If you are trying to get your insurer to cover damages from Isaac and you were told that you are subject to your hurricane deductible, try again.

There was apparently an issue in the wake of the storm in which local residents were told that they had to pay out that deductible before they could get coverage, since isaac became a hurricane.

But Florida insurance commissioner Kevin McCarty has notified insurers that the hurricane deductible shall not apply to property losses associated with a damage claim that occurred prior to tuesday, august 28th at 12:20 pm, when Isaac became a hurricane.

Insurance companies are instructed to apply the deductible that is unrelated to hurricane, generally referred to as the "all other perils deductible".

Bottom line: If you were told that you had to meet your hurricane deductible because of damage caused by tropical storm Isaac, report your insurance company to the state.
