A Montana-based non-profit, non-partisan organization helps you with its online tool.

As you prepare to vote, a non-profit, non-partisan organization wants to help you in your decision-making.

All of the congressional and presidential candidates are on the Vote Easy tool.  It was set up by Project Vote Smart, and Development Associate Ben Raker.

He tells us that he considers his organization a "voters self defense system" that provides you with "facts to defend yourself against abusive tactics from campaigns, elected officials, and candidates such as bullying, and lying in order to sway your vote towards that candidate."

The online tool allows you to answer questions regarding how important certain foreign and domestic issues are to you, then it tells you which candidates are the most like-minded.

Project Vote Smart does all of the research, to find out where the candidates really do stand on the issues.

According to Raker, "the group does look at what the candidates have said in interviews and speeches over a period of time, in multiple public speeches  or statements, interviews or debate performances that they've done".

Raker tells us they also look at how a candidate has voted on bills, if he or she has been in a position to do so.

In presidential candidates Mitt Romney and President Obama, that would be the case.
