Fla. Jobless Rate Declines

Local rates also drop.

Florida's jobless rate has dropped .01 of a percentage point from August to September.

The new rate is 8.7 percent, according to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

Palm Beach County's unemployment rate has gone down from 9.6 percent in August to 9.2 percent in September.

Martin County's jobless rate is now 9.4 percent, down from 9.7 percent in September.

In St. Lucie County, the rate has gone down from 12.3 to 11.7 percent.

Indian River County has seen a 0.6 percent drop in the jobless rate.  It was 11.9 percent in August and 11.3 percent in September.
