Is Nelson a "shoe-in" for re-election?
Heading into this election season, incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson was frequently mentioned as a possible target in a bid by Republicans to win back the U.S. Senate.
But with just days left before Election Day, Nelson appears to be quietly confident that he will win a third term and beat back GOP rival U.S. Rep. Connie Mack.
Nelson is keeping a moderate campaign schedule when he is on his own and not campaigning with Democrats stumping for President Barack Obama.
Mack predicted this week that he would beat Nelson, but has not been swinging through the state on a frantic pace either. One of his two events Thursday was a stop at a barbecue restaurant.
One Republican consultant joked that the two candidates had lulled each other to sleep.
