As hurricane season comes to an end, and cooler temperatures move in to our area Manatees are on the move as well.

The sea cows are on there way to warmer waters, such as freshwater springs or canals near power plant outflows.

So if you are out boating this weekend or in the near future, Authorities urge you to obey the manatee zone signs and slow down so as not to injure the animals.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Biologist Scott Calleson says "too many mantees have scars from run-ins with boaters traveling too fast on the water".

Calleson also encourages Floridians to purchase the manatee license plate with proceeds going to conservation and research efforts.

November is Manatee Awareness Month.
