Want to lose weight? Local medical professionals tell you not to rely on the pregnancy hormone.

HCG could be the most popular latest weight loss craze, but does it really work?

The hormone produced by pregnant women is being sold, often at a high price, by at least two dozen clinics in South Florida, including many in Palm Beach County.  A Sunsentinel investigation found that many doctors actually call the hormone "useless" as a diet aid.

They even say HCG may carry serious health risks.  The paper reports that physicians and counselors at the clinics tell customers that the hormone will help patients obtain dramatic weight loss results without side effects.

The FDA and significant medical reserach dispute those claims.
