"You will never have to wait in line six hours in order to vote."
Florida's new legislative leaders are vowing to fix the state's elections and make them a model for the nation.
Sen. Don Gaetz, a Niceville Republican, was officially selected as Senate President on Tuesday. Rep. Will Weatherford, a Wesley Chapel Republican, was chosen as House speaker.
The two men will serve two year terms.
Gaetz during his acceptance speech said that the nation should not have to wait five days to find out the results of local elections.
Gaetz and Weatherford also promising to tighten the state's ethics laws.
There are more Democrats in the Legislature as the result of the election, but Republicans remain firmly in charge.
