Tips to keep Fido safe.

Keep your pets in mind as you're enjoy the holidays this season. Officials with the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control have a few tips, and we have more from the A.S.P.C.A.

1) Keep your dog or cat in a secluded bedroom or bathroom in your home, if you are having a large crowd of people over.  The excessive noise can be stressful on your pet and could even turn that usually friendly pooch into a four-legged Grinch.  Elizabeth Harfmann, who works at the Animal Control Shelter in suburban West Palm beach, says dog bites go up this time of the year.

2) Poinsettia may look nice for Christmas, and put us in a festive spirit, just to look at it, but for pets, it can make them very sick, if they eat the plant.

3) No table scraps.  Lots of people like to think they are allowing their pets to "be a part of the celebration" by feeding them the same food that they ate for Christmas dinner.  This is a big no-no.  Cats and dogs can not digest these human food items well and it will give them upset stomachs.
