The Palm Beach County Health Department will have a booth inside the Expo Center at the South Florida fair during four days this year.  They'll be giving the flu shot free of charge, though you will need paid admission to the fair in order to get into the Expo Center.

Dept. spokesman Tim O'Connor tells us that is two days longer than usual, but they are doing more because of the increased availability of the flu vaccine and the fact that the flu is so widespread this year.

Here are the days the flu shot will be available at the fair this year:

January 18, January 22, January 24 and February 1.  The booth will be open from 12 noon to 4 p.m. each of those days.

There is also an opportunity to win daily prizes, by bringing with you to the fair two cans of food or non-perishable food items per fairgoer.  You will then be in the running for daily prizes each and every day of the fair.

Here is more information on that program:

Beginning in 2013, Fairs around the country will coordinate food drives for their communities.  The South Florida Fair will be the first Fair to kick off this nationwide project to feed the hungry.  The Palm Beach County Food Bank will be the beneficiary of what promises to be the largest food drive Palm Beach County has ever seen!
