DEA arresting suspects in prescription drug trafficking ring.

The Drug Enforcement Administration expects to take as many as 45 people into custody on Thursday, charging them with trafficking in prescription pills such as oxycodone.

The DEA has been conducting a sweep of Palm Beach County, setting up a staging area in Boynton Beach.  Agents are bringing suspects to other agents stationed at the staging area at the Intracoastal Park near North Federal Highway.

The suspects were allegedly taking fraudulent prescriptions to pharmacies across the state and filling them illegally.  The DEA became involved when a local pharmacist noticed something wasn't right about the prescriptions.

Federal officials say there were four people running the operation and they would hire others to fill prescriptions and then sell pills on the street.  At least 40,000 pills were sold.
