State labor officials say the jobless rate dipped to 8 percent in December, an improvement of one-tenth of a percentage point from November's 8.1 percent figure.

Palm Beach County’s unemployment rate fell 0.4 percentage points to 8 percent. Martin County fell 0.3 to 8.4 percent and St. Lucie dropped half a percentage point to 10 percent.

Florida unemployment now stands at its lowest level since it was at 7.8 percent in November 2008.
