The Governor wants each and every full time teacher in the state to earn an additional $2,500. He'll include the pay raise as part of the 2013 budget recommendations he will give to state legislators next week.
The raises are expected to cost taxpayers $480 million. It will have to be approved by the school boards.
Scott still supports a merit pay system, which gives the biggest raises to the best teachers, but believes right now, all teachers should get a pay hike.
There are about 168,000 teachers statewide.
