If you're starting the week in debt, we'll be checking in each Monday with DebtHelper.com's Sammi DelRosario, operations manager at the West Palm Beach-based non-profit.
You'll hear tips and advice from DelRosario regarding fixing your credit. She tells us that if you can get involved with a credit counseling service, and consolidate all ofyou debt, your credit score will begin to improve almost immediately.
"As those accounts are paid in full you'll start to see your credit score increase and then after successful completion...as long as you can remain out of debt. Maybe start with a secured credit card or another small credit card and start to get that credit revolving again. You have these accounts that have been paid in full, and then you'll start to see the revolving credit on your report again."
While subpar credit may not kep you from getting a car or other purchase, it will cause you to pay much more than someone with good credit.
"People with great credit get great interest rates. You've got average credit, you're going to get average interest rates, but the thing is the more credit you have revolving and the better shape you keep it in, the better your score will be."
