Organizers say this is the only park designed specifically for physically disabled kids in the country.

The Realtors® Association of the Palm Beaches (RAPB) is partnering with the Greater Boynton Beach Foundation by organizing a 5K run to raise money for the expansion of the Congress Avenue Barrier Free Park.

This park was specifically designed to accommodate disabled persons, young and old, by providing a place to play, laugh and live without limits and is the only park of its kind in the country.

The 5K run, which is titled "The Great Barrier-Free 5K Run" will start at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 9 at the park which is located at 3111 South Congress Avenue in Boynton Beach. The route will go through Hunters Run Golf and Racquet Club and a shorter run inside the park will be organized so children can participate in the festivities.

Runners and walkers can register for Barrier-Free 5K run online by visiting www.rapb.com/5K

The fee for a single runner is $30 and proceeds from the event will benefit the Greater Boynton Beach Foundation. Information and updates about the park and foundation are available on line here.
