Mycle Brandy is a four-time stroke survivor, once confined to a wheelchair, now walking with a cane more than 1,900 miles from Maine to Miami. He's been making his way through our area this week, on the Treasure Coast earlier and now in West Palm Beach.
Mycle calls it his "M to M Walk". He is stopping in at St. Mary's Medical Center on Thursday at 3 p.m. to visit with the medical staff there and, he hopes, with patients.
The California man first walked from Newport Beach in his home state to Washington D.C. in 2010, earning a letter of congratulations from the President and First Lady. He later walked from San Diego to Seattle. All told, Mycle will have racked up more than 6,300 miles between his three walks.
He wants to raise awareness about the dangers of stroke, ways to stay healthy to hopefully avoid a stroke and he wants folks to know that there is life after a stroke.
He tells us his amazing story about overcoming four strokes, including one that has left him partially deaf to this day, and it happened back in 1988. Mycle plans to arrive at Miami's City Hall on Valentine's day, February 14th, which is also his 62nd birthday.
Mycle says he hopes to have a large gathering with him as he arrives by foot in Miami. For more on his story and to find out how you can donate money in his name, Cilck Here.
