Several local cities, towns and villages are holding elections in March.

The city of Delray Beach has been in the news recently for paying a public relations firm $10,000 to send out a mail piece, make two robo-calls, design a website and send emails to "targeted voters", or those who have just voted in the Presidential election.

At least one Delray Beach city commissioner has said that money may have been better spent.  The city already pays more than $100,000 per year to two public information officers.

Mayor Tom Carney, who is up for re-election, says Connection Strategies does more than the city's PIOs do.  He says they were hired to remove city hall from ballot questions, which concern things like term limits, the City Manager's salary and property taxes.
