He's the number one golfer in the world, but we're getting word from the Golf Channel that Rory McIlroy has withdrawn from the Honda Classic, without finishing nine holes.
McIlroy won last year's Honda Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, but was already 7-over for eight holes and certain to miss another cut.
“I sincerely apologize to the Honda Classic and PGA Tour for my sudden withdrawal. I have been suffering with a sore wisdom tooth, which is due to come out in the near future," McIlroy said in a statement.
The golfer began the year by missing the cut at Abu Dhabi, then lost in the opening round of the Match Play Championship.
