Two whales beached themselves in Jensen Beach on Sunday. They were being treated at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in Fort Pierce, but have since been euthanized.
Biologists decided the pair was in too poor condition to be saved.
Two teens found the mother pygmy sperm whale and her calf on Sunday. The larger whale had bruises on her head, likely from rolling in the sand.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reminds us that if you ever find a beached marine animal, don't push it back into the water. They say you should contact them immediately, at 888-404-FWCC (3922).
