We already have the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals playing their spring training games in Jupiter. Now comes word that the Houston Astros could someday be calling Palm Beach County home.
The general counsel for the Major League franchise told TCPalm that the team is interested in an 82 acre parcel of land in Palm Beach Gardens, between Central Blvd. and I-95. It's not far from Roger Dean Stadium, where the Marlins and Cardinals play.
The Astros currently play their spring training games in Kissimmee, and the team has released an official statement stating that they are happy in that town. But, teamowner jim Crane has said the Astros will look into all possibilities to find the best home for his team, once the current lease is up.
There is also talk that the Toronto Blue Jays could be coming to the Treasure Coast for spring training.
The franchise has been in the town of Dunedin for 37 years, but we have learned the team is now open to a move and possible locations include Port St. Lucie and Vero Beach.
Team officials say they'll spend the next 12 months looking for a possible new spring training home.
